Hello All
New to the forum, and hoping to get some help/opinions.
My parents recently bought a Fleetwood Jamboree 31M with the Triton V10. We were told it has a Class III hitch with 5k pound max weight rating. Since their grand caravan weighs in at over 4400lbs, we discussed purchasing a "toad". I have a Ford Fusion which weighs in around 3600lbs, and I thought about putting it on a dolly. I've found a few Saturns with automatic transmissions, but the prices are steep for the year, mileage and condition then we would have to have a tow bar system installed.
My concern is the dolly. I was told they are not safe and come with their own issues. Any clarification, opinions, advice would be wonderful and greatly appreciated.

5000# towing capacity and a toad that weighs 4400# ? 600#'s to spare. A dolly won't weigh 600#'s. Tow dollies are as safe as any other method.

I'm starting to think it's a personal preference. As for the weight, the minivan will not be used as a toad. The dolly I'm looking at weighs about 500, so the toad will be my Fusion.

Road Master 2000-1 weighs in at about 630 pounds. I tow a Corolla on it behind my Jamboree 31M.

That is good to know. The dolly I'm looking at is a Roadmaster 3477 if I remember right. I will have to investigate the weight of it, but it would be towed behind a 31M as well.

As you can see below I tow a Fusion on a dolly and have no problems.
