I have always thought that I would need to tow my car behind my new coach.

But I was on the road for a long drive this weekend, and saw a lot of coaches with no toad.

So what's the trick? I'm concerned about logistics, moving around once you're parked, going for groceries or to the movies once in a while, that sort of thing.

So what are the best procedures you have for traveling in your coach without having access to a toad?

It all depends where you are going. Some campgrounds are a destination in themselves. An easy example is Walt Disney World in Florida. A quick weekend venue could be easily done with the need to travel beyond the camp resort.
So basically the availability of supplies and length of stay make all the difference. You don't always need one.

I'm the same. It all depends on the destination, how long I'll be there and what there is to do. Preparation usually allows you a few days leeway and even when we needed some groceries enroute, we were able to get out 37' coach into most supermarket lots. We brought our bicycles along for close touring.

My last 18 day trip to the Oregon coast, I didn't tow. I rented a car in Seattle for 3 days and once on the Oregon Coast, I rented a car for 5 days in Lincoln City. When we moved campsites, my wife just followed with the rental car. We got to see all we needed to on the Oregon coast. I saved a lot of fuel by not towing as well as effort hooking and unhooking and was able to get a wider variety of sites. For us it worked.

Well, sometimes I go early to our destination and DW follows later. In general, its just the nature of the event that decides. Sometimes friends or family have the spare transport at the destination. Hooking, unhooking is so easy that its not in any equation.......but then that's our opinion only.cheers.

Agree on the hookup and unhook now because we are 4 down. At the time I used in my above post, we had a tow Dolley and car.

I've rented from Enterprise when we didn't have the toad. They'll pick you up and bring you back when you turn it in.

Now that is definately a better plan, but we all have pictures that paint our different stories. Happy toading or not......

In my case I'm still gathering the necessary equipment to add a toad to my RV. By the time you get the hitch, tow bar, base plate, electrical wiring, safety cables, brake assist and get all of that stuff installed, you are talking close to $2,000. So I am gathering the supplies little by little now and hope to get them installed and be 'toad ready' by next year.

In the mean time we usually go to RV parks where we stay there, or the parks have a shuttle to nearby attractions or my girl friend drives her vehicle separately so that we can go places afterwards.

I have not tried Enterprise car rental yet.

We never had a toad when we only went for a few weeks vacation. Since none of our vehicles were something we considered easy or even possible to tow without a large investment in a tow bar or dolly a rental fit the bill. There were no worries about breakdowns either. We could call the rental company and ask them to bring us another car.

Now that we use the MH for six months a toad is a necessity. It is easy to tow so it goes if we go. This past weekend we went on a short trip with friends to a CG we figured we would never need the car. We dragged it along anyway just in case. Its total drive was from unhooking it to parking it in front of the MH and back.

I pull a Jeep cuz where I mostly go I need it to see the sights.
State Parks or Boondock.

Pretty much same here. Often the Jeep is the reason for the trip as we go off-roading. If in doubt, the Jeeps comes along. Also, I like a toad as a lifeboat should something happen with the coach.

Most mohos without a toad are so new and clean I think they are dealers moving to and from shows. Also when they blow by me, I can smell the depreciation.
