If anyone is interested..Fuel used on my trip

2014 Tioga Ranger 25G..Chassis 2013 E450 V10
12,000 miles now on odometer..

I ran generator for 7 hours at a truck stop overnight in Illinois. (the only time)

Terrible cross winds in eastern Missouri and western Kansas on I-70

Speed was around 62 Mph on interstate ..mostly traveled on..

I seldom let fuel get below 1/2 full....

Indiana and Illinois have highest prices...

No tow vehicle

It seems this is the top question about my R.V.

Covington , Ga to Auburn, Ind to Abilene Kansas to Covington Ga.
Sept. 2016
Total miles- 2577
Total gallons- 306
Total cost for gas - 650.56
2577 miles divided 306= 8.42 mpg

Your average pretty well squares with my (best) MPG ...... pulling my toad with almost no wind.......60 MPH ....... no gen usage. 10 MPG ? ...... in my dreams.

I've logged every stop for gas in an app on my iPhone since I purchased my RV about 2 1/2 years ago. I've never really looked at my totals before but here they are:

24930 miles traveled
99 stops to refuel
$8240.30 spent on gas
Averaging 7.8 mpg

I learned very quickly that I need to keep it around 60 mph or less on the highway otherwise mpg drops down significantly. In the first few months on the road I had a couple trips where I averaged less than 5 mpg! Since then I've just accepted the fact that it's going to take me longer than Waze or Google says it will to get to my destination so I set the cruise control for 59 mph and just enjoy the journey.

I've enjoyed my coach much more since I quit monitoring my fuel usage. It is what it is.

Drive on.

I use the Fuel log 3 and record every fuel and trip on it as well. Never did my totals for my first year but here they are ---- Aug 2015 - Sept 2016

Total miles = 11730
Total gallons = 1860.549
35 fuel stops
Average MPG = 6.3

80% towing and quite a bit of generator time scattered in there both on the road and setting at the house. So i am happy with that, after all if i bought an RV for fuel economy then i did something WAY wrong

X2. Half way thru our month on the road. Sitting at Devils Tower KOA. Driven 2200 miles since leaving and 2 weeks to go. Drive on the top half of tank and gas up. Couldn't care less what mileage or cost is.
But, getting great smiles per gallon, and having a ball.
Mileage....who cares!!!

Seneca fuel milage

I track all my fuel and maintenance expenditures since I purchased my unit. fuel mileage ranges from 8.7 to 12.5 mpg. I travel at 65 mph ( just over 1800 rpm) the wind direction affects my mileage more than if I'm hauling a trailer or not.

What then is the overall average MPG you have gotten since you purchased your unit?? (10.6 MPG?)

Wink More speed - less mpg...

Just returned from a 3 week 2,400+ mile trip from Tucson up to Northern California{encountering lots of mountains}. Our 2012 E-350 V-10, Nexus Phantom 24' Class C over the last 32,000+ miles has consistently averaged 9.5 with a little generator time included.

I usually keep my speed around 60 but on this last trip I kicked it up to 65 on the interstates and any highways where it was prudent/legal. I expected to see a drop but was pleasantly surprised that it only seemed to knock the mileage back to 9.25. We were in what I call my "Medium Load" mode at just about 11,000# on a GVWR of 11,500. I often tow my motorcycle {bike and trailer are less than 1,000#}, but did not bring them this trip.

We're in our 3rd week on the road now at Mackinaw City. 3300 miles so far.
Don't know what mpg is, we just fill up when tank gets below 1/2.
BUT, spg (smiles per gallon) are at least 250 to 275, plus a few barkey barks from the two "kids".

I track mine not for cost, but it has helped me in other vehicles to identify issues. Filter change, tune-up, etc.

1,515 miles
229 gallons
6.6mpg (avg)
9.0mpg (best)

Quite a bit of generator time in there. About to start towing the Jeep this week. Average 60 - 70MPH (Texas posted speed limits are mostly 75, don't want to cause too much traffic).

I've noticed on the RV boards, people get defensive, and argumentative about fuel mileage. Most won't talk about it and say that you shouldn't. I agree with the above quote. I have tracked fuel consumption, mileage, etc. on virtually every vehicle I have owned for many years. I kept ledger books on a couple of them to do this. In 2011 I bought a Pontiac Vibe that proved to be difficult to fill consistently and I was curious about the mileage. It would be 28 one time, and 36 the next. I set up a spreadsheet and formulas to track date, miles drive, gallons consumed, MPG on that tank full, cost of fuel, cost per mile, station brand and location, odometer reading, and a remarks section. I have a box that shows total cost of all fuel consumed, and the average miles per gallon both a mathematical average and a median average. I added a tab for my old Ranger pickup and then added a tab for the MH when I bought it.

I can see exactly when winter fuel kicks in, and when they finally change to summer fuel, I can see if a particular station sells gas that gets either better or worse mileage (yes, this is readily apparent if you look at the numbers), and for me it is fun exercise in creating and using the spreadsheet.

My Vibe has accumulated enough numbers now (388 fill ups) that I can see a good average of 32.257 (which will float downward in the winter slightly) and that I have spent more in fuel (about $10,500) than I paid for the car (used, $8700 in 2011).

After several tankfulls, the MH is showing a consistent mid 17 mpg range with three tank fulls at or slightly over 18 mpg.

over the last year I drove 12070 miles. pulling a trailer. I purchased 1206.03 gallons of fuel.. it works out to 10.008 mpg.. I did not deduct for some use ( 25 hours) of the generator.
