In search of owner's manual for 1998 Georgie Boy Maverick

Hello, all.
I am newly minted on iRV2. Just 2 weeks ago, I purchased a used 1998 Georgie Boy Maverick...but no owner's manual came with it and I know very little about the amenities of my RV. Please, if you have the manual that I need...or know how I can acquire one, I would greatly appreciate the info. All my searching on Ebay, Craigslist, and the internet in general has turned up zilch by way of that manual. Thanks again. - Curt

Sorry I couldn't be of additional help, but our rigs are close in age so perhaps we can be a resource for each other. Feel free to contact me.

For CurtGrimes and jerrdog1 and any other Georgie Boy Maverick owners, my wife and I purchased a 2000 31' Maverick at the beginning of this year. It replaces a 1985 26' Cross Country (we still have). I was fortunate in that the previous owner had included a thumbdrive with all of the various manuals on it, for everything including the fridge, heater, automatic power scissor jack leveling system, steps, etc., a total of 17 different items. If this info will help anyone, please PM me and I will try to get a copy to you. It may take a little while, but I'll try to help. There is not much out there on these units, but we are very happy with ours and although we were only able to use it once this year due to an injury my wife suffered while ATVing at Moab, we are looking forward to many ATV/camping trips in the coming years. It has no slides (which is good for overall weight limits), 26k miles and less than 100 hours on the genset. I have added shelves in several of the cabinets, upgraded the coach batteries from two 12 volt to 4 GC-2 6 volters, added a separate water pump to pump water from extra water containers into the onboard fresh water tank, and added an extend-a-stay unit to allow use of separate 20lb LP tanks.

Nice looking setup there!

Mine has a similar color scheme with the storage doors all one color, but mine is more turquoise than yours. I haven't seen other Class C's that have this much basement storage and I have been absolutely thrilled with it.

Does yours have ducted air-conditioning?

Thank you. Yes it does have ducted A/C and seems to work pretty good. One of the first things I noticed about this unit when we saw it on the dealer's lot was the amount of outside storage it has, almost on a par with a Class A. I don't think I've seen another Class C with this kind of storage. We love it as the storage inside is extremely lacking. I installed a set of the "bed lift" (my term as I don't remember the product name) assist cylinders to make it easier to access the under bed storage area. I plan on building a set of sliding drawers to fit under the couch for more storage. I also added a set of the slide out plastic drawers that fit under the dinette table top for knives, forks and such. The shelving I added to one half of our "hallway" clothes closet and the bedside closets helps too.

We are really happy with the unit and feel we got a very good deal. The roof had just been redone within the last year, the Carefree awning looks like it's never been used, maybe a new replacement; all of the roof vents have those covers installed over them and are hinged so you easily access the actual vent cover, there is a 2nd TV installed in the bedroom, it has an ADCO (?) windshield cover. It also came with installed auto leveling power scissor jacks which make for easy setup at the campsite. YES, we are very happy with this unit!

Also, tonight I stumbled on a blogsite called DogVentures in RV'ing. The couple writing it recently bought a 1997 Georgie Boy Maverick and they are writing about their various trips in it and a little on some of their various problems and fixes. Go to the "Background" entry and he has pics of the original Ford window sticker and the Georgie Boy "window sticker". It listed for $57,708 in 1997.

I also found a website called Georgie Boy Owners Club but there is not much activity on it.

Have you done/planning to do any mods to your unit and what features does it have?

A few more answers

I agree with you on the storage piece. My friend actually stumbled up our Maverick when he knew we were looking for an MH. He has had several RV's and used to build them and he said he had never seen such a nice Class C with so many options.

Ours also has a newer awning, just 4 years old, because the previous owner lost the old awning in a straight line wind at Sturgis. Instead of the standard awning he put in a 19' awning so ours actually extends all the way back to cover the rear bedroom window. It's really nice.

As far as mods, I haven't done anything serious. Ours already has the bed lift arms you mentioned, so maybe that was a mod the previous owner did. We knew there was a water heater issue when we bought it, so we put a brand new one in. I've built some shelves and I built a platform to go between the cockpit seats for our small dogs to be able to jump up to the seats and also for some additional cup holders. My wife wanted all of the window treatments gone so we pulled all of those out and put up new curtains even before our first trip.

I will have some work to do in the spring. Need a new oven & hood and need to replace the vent cover for the hood on the outside. I'm planning to replace all of the bulbs inside with LED's, and I'd like to add a second battery and get a portable solar kit that I've had my eyes on. I also plan to put in a new TV because the original is still in it.

What else do you have planned?
