Is the Chassis On A Four Winds 28A - A Chevy Express 3500 ?

Just picked a 2000 Four Winds 28A Model Five thousand with a Chevy 3500 chassis. Is this the Chevy Express 3500 Chassis ?

Looking at replacing the shocks, The VIN number does not pull up in the auto parts data base. There is a listing for the Chevy express 3500.
Is this standard 1 ton chassis and do the parts interchange with a standard
Chevy Express 3500 ? Are the brakes standard Chevy express 3500 rotors and pads ?

Thanks

It's an expanded 3500 chassis, the length is different than a 3500 van. You should be able to find a Chevy VIN id website that can tell you what you have. Axles and weight loads are different than a van, so you should find out what shocks you have and replace with like or better. Here's a link to a Thor brochure:

Called the local Chevy dealer today and spoke to the parts counter. Gave them the VIN number and they said it shows a 3500 Chevy Express Van Chassis with a 4L80E transmission.

Parts man said brakes parts for a 3500 express will work and the rear
drum shoes have been discontinued.

Gives a base line where to start for replacement parts when needed.

Mine is a 2002. I changed the drum to disk brakes. What a difference in stopping power.

Try www.rockauto.com they have a 3500 express listed for parts, they have your brake shoes listed there.

Not sure why the dealer parts guy said they are discontinued, unless he meant the A/C Delco brand, but there are plenty of others to choose from

Thanks for the reply. What was involved in the disc brake conversion ?
Did you do it yourself ? What rotors, calipers and pads were used ? did you have to change the brake master cylinder ?
