Replacement[edit]

Ford Transit full-size van at 2013 Canadian International Auto Show

At the end of the 2014 model year, the Econoline/E-Series will be discontinued after a production run of 53 years. In its place, Ford will sell the rear-wheel drive version of the Ford Transit.

Yes, the E series vans will be replaced but not the cutaway E series chassis for RVs. As stated earlier the new Transit does not have the weight capacity for anything larger than Bs and the smaller Cs.

The Transit should be a great chassis for a B. With an Econo-Boost engine and unlike the number of service centers for the Sprinter, any Ford dealer should be able to service the Transit.

Wiki has not been updated. The end of the E-Series has been bumped due to issues with infrastructure in the US to support the roll-out of the full sized Transit.

The E-150's will probably be the first to go. But seriously I doubt that the big E-Series Cab/Chassis will be continued once there is no large/shared market for the cab body parts.

But for the RV biz, the E-350/450 stripped chassis is already under some RV's that split the old Class a and C divide like the Axis/Vegas.

And F550 (Diesel optioned) is under some Super C's.

For those that really want the Van Cab/Chassis there is still the GM.

The first thing to keep in mind. The popularity of that program will give any manufacturer salivate over getting their vehicle in front of the people this much. It is just one big commercial.

American Pickers made the switch in April:
'American Pickers' Trades Its Mercedes for a Ford Transit - PickupTrucks.com News

There's an interesting contest (Prize is free use of the Transit van for 2 weeks) mentioned at the bottom of this article
