Just recently we've seen where the 6.6L Duramx Turbo Diesel engine is now being offered as an option on the 2006 Chevy/Workhorse Class C chassis.

Duramax Debuts

GM/Workhorse 14,050 Class C Chassis

The all-new Chevy-Workhorse class C chassis is designed to perform more like an SUV "”not like a commercial van or truck. It has the comfort and friendliness of an SUV, such as easy entry and exit, a user-friendly dash and a driving position that gives you a sense of control while keeping you close to the road. Yet, it has the power to take you everywhere you want to go.

Its impressive 14,050 lb. GVWR payload frees you up to take along more supplies, equipment and toys to get the most out of your lifestyle. Best of all, you'll enjoy the peace of mind from owning a product backed by the number one combination in the motor home industry: GM Vortec™ engines and Workhorse.

We worked in partnership with GM to create a platform designed specifically for your RV with more convenience features than any other Class C on the market.

Space to move

Settle into the driver- or passenger-side captain's chair, and you'll immediately feel you're in a real motor home "” not a modified commercial vehicle. It has large foot wells, with more space to sit straight and stretch your legs. With its forward-mounted doghouse, moving from the captain's chairs to the living area is practically effortless. Plus, the wide step pad gets you in and out easier.

The chassis also includes many popular Chevy features like deep and wide door storage pockets, a console with a large storage area plus an additional power outlet for your electronic accessories.

Cherish every moment of the drive

We incorporated an advanced, short-arm independent front suspension, upgraded heavy-duty axles and a new rear stabilizer bar with a greater diameter than the competition. This combination improves driver confidence by eliminating body roll and road wander. Plus, the sharp turning radius gets you in and out of tight spots with ease- all to give you a comfortable ride reminiscent of an upscale SUV.

Enjoy it all"”even the servicing

Thoughtful design and attention to detail result in special features that provide a more pleasant motor home experience.

Fluid fill and engine monitoring points are labeled and easy to find, making routine service and maintenance easier.
A step on the front bumper means you won't need to stretch when cleaning the windshield.
Chip-resistant panels behind the front wheels keep rocks and debris from scratching the fenders.

The engine oil life monitor tells you when to change oil or if your oil is low, saving you money while protecting your engine.
More safety and confidence

A variety of advanced features ensure safety and confidence for you and your passengers.

Large anti-lock front disc brakes with twin-piston calipers provide sure stopping. Plus, Dynamic Rear Proportioning adjusts brake pressure toward the front or rear as needed, optimizing braking performance.

A sensing system determines whether the passenger-side air bag should deploy in the event of a collision, potentially saving on airbag replacement cost.

The front bumper attaches directly to the frame and a strong cross member, increasing the coach's crush zone and its ability to absorb energy during front-end impacts.

Daytime running lights make your coach more visible to oncoming traffic.

Battery rundown protection, lockout prevention and retained accessory power help ensure you won't be left stranded.

Please note: Workhorse Custom Chassis is not responsible for service or warranty issues associated with repairs on the C Class Product. All service and warranty issues are handled by GM service centers

Chevrolet dealerships will be the go to service center on Class C chassis issues.

Isn't this typical . . . for example, if you have a Ford chassis, then isn't the Ford garage the point for chassis issues? Or Dodge for a Dodge, etc?

Most Ford dealerships will not touch a class C or class A chasis. They are not set up to work on anything that big. They will stop with anything beyond an F35/450/550 pickup truck. They do not have the lifts or service bays for a 14,000# 30' long vehicle. You have to go to a Ford truck dealer.

I would be surprised if the run of the mill Chevy auto/pickup dealer would be equipped to take on somthing that big.

Our local Ford dealer is equipted to handle our 31' C and longer A's .... the 14000 pound capacity is the same as our Ford E450 so nothing unique here but the diesel weighes some much more than the gas I wonder what the actual CCC is on the Chevy Duramax?
