Leaving LP Generator ON while driving?
Owners of units with LP generators:
I have owned 3 gasoline MH's and often ran with gasoline-fed generator running to power house A/C. I am considering purchase of a smaller Class C unit that has a LP generator. Is it considered safe to drive with LP tank turned on so that Genie can power A/C? I always made sure LP tank was OFF when driving gas powered units....

I thought everyone left them on to power the lp fridge.
Just shut off when refueling.

It's ok. I had a previous coach with propane generator. We often ran with it running to power the air conditioning.

Yes, for the refrigerator as well. However I would use inverter on the refrigerator if I did not also need air conditioning.

I do it
just to run low on fuel as the gennie will shut off when the tank gets low!

If you need to run the LP generator.... do so. Should not be an issue.
Its always a good idea to switch off the LP Master when at a fuel stop. Although, my water heater is at least 5' above ground level. And gas fumes are heavier than air and should hug the ground. Better smart than ... you know....
You might like to check the manual for the refrigerator in the unit you are interested in. Many have a '3 way' automatic selecting, fridge, meaning it is 110V AC, 12 V DC, or LP powered. If you are on shore power or generator, it should cool on 110V AC. If the RV engine is running you will have 12 V power while on the highway. LP is for when you don't have either of the above energy sources.
It may be AUTO selecting at to available power source and select the most economical source available.
AUTO selecting is my choice. You can't walk off and forget to leave the fridge in the right mode. OTOH, you can store the RV and walk off leaving the LP and/or Master Electric ON.

Only problem with a C and propane Gen is amount of fuel used by Gen. Check how many gallons of propane on board, figure about 1/2 gallon per run hour. Plan on filling before the camping site.

I'd run it if I had one, but doubt that will be an issue for us. I would not consider a coach with an LP generator. Way too much hassle keeping the LP tank(s) filled, compared to the option of having it run off the same fuel the coach's engine does.

Many have been RVing much longer than I but the advice should follow manufacture recommendations and common sense when advising others. Start by checking your owners manual.
RV fires are common, and a fire in an RV is an absolute life threatening event.
My manuals all say not to run the LP appliances while in motion.
Common sense says that most of these appliances when operating are vented to the out side, the possibility of extinguishing the flame is likely.
I researched the operation of the LP generator while in motion, the consensus is that it is ok to run the generator as long as you are following the laws regarding the use of LP in the state that you are traveling in. Examples of unacceptable use are on some bridges or in tunnels.
