Lithium Ion Batteries

Just intalled 2 EWT Lithium ion batteries on my 22QB coachmen Freelander. They both have PCB/BMS function. Do I need to replace the converter/battery charger. And where is this converter located?

Your existing converter charger is not compatible. It will stop bulk / absorbtion charging and go into float mode before they are fully recharged. Float charge shortens the life of the Li batteries. How much shorter , I don't know.

Given what you just invested in the Li batteries ( $ 2000 ? ) spend a few bucks more and replace your OEM converter charger with one recommended by your battery maker.

Solar charge controllers, same story. Li batteries use a totally different charge algorithm than lead batteries. I just updated a TriMetric solar charge controller with the Li custom settings for a friend and it made a huge difference. None of the built in non-custom programs were appropriate for his Li batteries.

What kind of converter/inverter charger would you recommend?
