Load MH to max or pull a trailer

I going on a 1000 mile trip end of June to Northern Maine. Will be using MH just for transportation there will be 7 people so with gear and stuff be very close to the weight limit of MH. My thought is to pull my enclosed utility trailer with the gear and stuff to keep the MH with less weight. Is my thinking correct. My MH is a 2008 Gulf Stream Ultra 31 ft. According to the lable it has a NCC of 2449 pounds. Any input would be appriciated

Thanks

What is your MH rated to tow? How much does your trailer weigh full? If you are under your GVWR for towing then I would pull the trailer.

Just because a motor home has a 5,000 pound hitch doesn't mean you can tow 5000. The amount of cargo and passengers in the motor home can reduce how much you can tow. Check your gross combined weight too. At any rate, with 7 people I think I would tow a cargo trailer if it was me.

My wife has a consulting business so we frequently load stuff in our toad to offset weight, same idea but you have the toad on arrival. As long as you are within weight limits, gross vehicle, gross combined and on axels and tires and hitch shift the load whatever way makes since. In your case a trailer sounds like a wise thing to do with so many people.

PS: Don't forget to consider the traveling weight of the people, they count.
