Looking for a temperature guage, 1984 chevy / winnebago (ac delco)

I tried to reply to this thread since it is the same exact gauge I need:
http://www.irv2.com/forums/f107/help...ard-77710.html

I just pulled the same gauge panel out of a 1894 winnebago chieftain 22 because the temp gauge goes immediately to hot as soon as the ignition is turned on.

p31 chassis 1984 chevy truck engine as far as I know.

If anyone could give me some clues as to where I might find one?

Thanks,
Michael

It's a GM part. Try Walts RV Supply in Fontana, CA. He used to have several instrument clusters from that vintage P-30 in Fleetwood.
Did you check the sending unit? It's more prone to failure then the gauge. It's located in the engine block between #2 & 4 cylinders (near the spark plugs) I think an open sending unit or broken wire will give you a "hot" reading.
You can troubleshoot the sending unit by removing the wire with the ignition "on" and watch the guage. You can also install a test light between the wire and ground. The bulb acts as a resistor and drives your needle.

Thanks, I have sent Walt's an email and will post back the results.

Its my father's winnie and he is doing the work. he says that he has replaced the sender and it has to be the gauge.

I ended up getting a complete cluster replacement from Colaw RV Salvage in Missouri - Used RVs and Motorhomes - RV Parts | Colaw RV Parts and Salvage - they even matched, within about 8000 miles, my odometer reading, since I had only 42K on the unit.

$150 plus shipping.

Good luck.

I cant figure out how to edit my last post (maybe can't after a certain time?) so double posting

colaw had the part, I opted to get the whole thing for $150 as well.

Walt's responded, but they do not have it.

Thanks for all the assistance guys!
