I just pulled the same gauge panel out of a 1894 winnebago chieftain 22 because the temp gauge goes immediately to hot as soon as the ignition is turned on.
p31 chassis 1984 chevy truck engine as far as I know.
If anyone could give me some clues as to where I might find one?

It's a GM part. Try Walts RV Supply in Fontana, CA. He used to have several instrument clusters from that vintage P-30 in Fleetwood.
Did you check the sending unit? It's more prone to failure then the gauge. It's located in the engine block between #2 & 4 cylinders (near the spark plugs) I think an open sending unit or broken wire will give you a "hot" reading.
You can troubleshoot the sending unit by removing the wire with the ignition "on" and watch the guage. You can also install a test light between the wire and ground. The bulb acts as a resistor and drives your needle.
