I use a chinese 250cc scooter when we go RV'ing. I had to put some electrical work into it when I first got it but we now have put over 3000 miles on it. Goes 60mph with the two of us (350lbs). We love it for exploring around our camping country side. For trips longer than 30-45 minutes drive time it does get a little hard on the body and rump.

How does that setup affect airflow to the engine/radiator for cooling purposes?

No effect at all. Plenty of air circulation.
