Need carpeting help

One of our friends has a Class C that needs the carpeting replaced due to age. We took it out, and were surprised to find that the only thing that held it in place was staples around the edge. There was no tack strip like you'd find in a house or anything. The problem with staples is that the carpet looked kind of frayed around the edge since there isn't a way to tuck the edge under unless you wanted to live with a big lump. She doesn't want tile, wood flooring, or anything other than carpet, and not the kind you'd be able to glue down. I though about putting tack strips around the whole edge, but am not sure if that would work. Anyone have any suggestions that would help me out? Thanks in advance

Thats a little tricky but do-able. A lot of times the carpet is layed before they attach the counters and such. I do floors and cabinet work and layed down really high quailty laminate that looks like wide plank hardwood. Then I placed a real high end 6 by 8 throw rug in living area that gave it a warm feeling.
One way you can adress this if your handy and give the coach a real nice finished look is lay the entire carpet down as tight as you can in all areas. Then lay household molding and 3/4 quater round down. You may find you can lay the quater round under the cabinet areas. That will hold carpet in place but its a lot of cutting and measuring. Having a finishing nail gun makes it easy as a miter saw but other then stapling through the top of the carpet this is the way to go. I added a link to pictures I took of the Motorhome I rehabed and replace all the flooring and taking the oak molding to give you an idea. Though the molding goes over laminate flooring on mine the same method will work for the carpet and it will really have a nice finished look like in your home. Note: I added the nice belguim carpet down which went in from of couch and gave the wood floors a super look and feel.

Thanks for the advice. Fortunately the carpet doesn't extend under the cabinets. Staples and moulding looks like the best option.

Don't use tack strips. The tacks will stick through and hurt the little feetsies.
