Just purchased a 29ft 1994 Fleetwood tioga with 59,000 miles on it. The previous owner said everything worked the last time he drove it. Come to find out when we went camping the first time we tried to use the cruise and it would not work. Then tried the air conditioner. No blower fan activity. When we got to our destination we called a mechanic to check it out (who was recommended by a local person). He put in a new fan switch and a new vacuum control behind the dash. Still did not work. He said he did not know what was wrong and could not fix it. Charged us $300. for parts and mileage and 1/2 of the labor due. Before he left I told him I wanted to make sure the engine would start since he moved some wiring around. It would not start. I had to call another mechanic to get it started but we still have no heater fan and AC. Don't know about the cruise yet. Any suggestions? Please don't tell me I am a goofball, I already found out the hard way.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Congrats on the new rig! Wish I could help but I'm about as far from being a mechanic as you will ever find!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

94 thru 99 used servo speed control, not ecm control, speed signal comes off speedo cable, servo has a cable to carb or throttle body, p gk lls the throttle. Pop cable off throttle body making sure it's still connected to the servo. PRts are avalable.,hope this helps alittle

Have you got the wonderful 454 in that 94? I have one in my 95 Suburban and it's about to turn 300,000 miles, original engine, trans and transfer case. I have replaced 2 starters, a few alternators, and one AC compressor -- ad the cruise control module. The cruise control is frequent fail item. It's a motor that winds up a tape, that pulls open your throttle. It's spring loaded to close. The motor is connected to the spool by plastic gears; they are likely stripped. $400 new, $80 at the junkyard, your choice. Way easy to replace, and we're here when you're ready.

By Air Conditioner, I suppose you mean the dash air, not the roof air? The heater fan used a series of resisters to control the speed. If the first resister is burnt out, no fan speeds. Or if the motor is burnt out. Motor is a 'spensive part, resister bank not so much. Have you got a multimeter and the knowledge to use one? You'll need to check the resister bank for an open.

We have the ford 460 in it. The second mechanic ran a wire from the battery to the fan and it ran but that was as far as he got. And yes, I was talking about the dash air. I just wondered if they were all tied together hoping for a quick fix. I sure would spend $80 instead of $400. We gave $5000.00 for this rig and thought it was a bargain since everything in the house part works and seems in good shape, had to put new tires on it (which we knew when we bought it), but now I don't know. The motor seems to run good and it drives good.

E450 chassis are noted for bad blower switches, generally the resistor block is good, but the switch is bad, most common is you loose the medium high position, part is available everywhere about 30 bucks

heater fan

Good news for me. The first resister on the firewall was bad. Replaced it and both fan worked but the heater/air condition valve would not work. Took everything apart and found that one of the vacuum hoses was mashed together. Fixed that and now have heat and air. Thanks for everyone's help.

And now you know to carry tools and a spool or two of electrical wire. It's a learning cliff.
