New to iRV2 and RV's Trying to decide -- Help

We have tent camped over the years but I'm getting a little old to sleep on the ground. Well actually sleeping is pretty easy its the getting up that's getting harder. So we have decide to take a look at getting an RV. I have been looking at Class C's and TT's. I like the idea of traveling in a Class C but I also like the floor plans of many TT's. I'm also not interested in going into debt so our funds are a little limited. We've been looking at used campers but to be honest I'm not really sure what to look for. I'm semi-retired and pretty handy with tools so I'm not opposed to a fixer upper. So here are my questions:

What should I look for when inspecting a camper?
What questions should I ask the owner?
What are the pros and cons of a Class C?

How hard is it to refurbish a camper?

Thank You, Rob

First off what do you have for a TV? If you don't have an adequate TV a TT won't do you much good or you have to buy one. Before looking at anything you need to decide what type of use is going to occur, FT, weekends, 2 week trips, etc. I would read the forum on pre-purchase checklists, what to look for, manufacturer issues, etc. Do as much homework as you can and educate yourself before you go look. If you have specific questions then ask. You also need to let us know what type of budget you have. Because then we can give you specific information on what to look for.

I could give you over an hour on things to look at before you even test drive a rig or look at a TT. Repairs depend on how handy you are and can you work on engines or not. Figure anything used will require as little as $1000 up to $mega dollars. I've spent about $1500 on my 03 Chateau (which was in great shape) and as much as $3000 on my 87 Allegro that I sold last year. Some have spent less and some much more.

The key is education before you begin to look.

Roof leaks is a main problem, look close inside/Outside.
Ask lots of questions, if answers aren't good beware.
Check all appliances and make sure they work.
If you don't like pulling a trailer, unhooking/hooking up
all the time try a class C. You can pull a toad or we rent
a car when staying in location for site seeing.

New to this site. You want to look for water intrusion. Everything else can be repaired or redone but water damage, now that is a real deal breaker. IMHO.
