Newbie needs help - 85 Minnie Winnie

mmmmkay...first RV ever....1985 Minnie Winnie....I plugged into a water hose and nothing came out the faucets inside the RV, but the center of the three tubes underneath the rear left side started running water. When I plugged it with my finger, the water came out the hot water heater drain.

So...what the heck? I'll take it these are broken, but what goes there (how do they connect????), and where can I get a manual for this?

...so lost...

Steve

It is probably the bypass for your hot water heater. There is a valve that isolates your hot water heater from the rest of the system. That allows you to save RV antifreeze when you winterize. You drain the hot water tank and fill the rest of the system with the pink antifreeze. Otherwise, you would need like 8 gallons of antifreeze to winterize your coach.

The value could have frozen at one time and was take out.

Does your water faucets work when you fill up the water tank and put the pump on?

Glad to have you here with us.

Sounds like your MH was never de-winterized. It would seem like the low water drain is open and that is what you are plugging with your finger. If the heater by-pass is open you will be putting the water into the hot water tank. You also need to close the hot water drain. There should be a valve for both of these. See if that solves your problem.

Good luck and Happy Trails!!!!

mmmkay...didn't know there was a hot water heater bypass valve. I'm a-gonna go a-looking.

To answer your question...when I attach a cold water line to the rig's attachment, it pours out this spout. It also does the same when I try to add water to the potable spout (no attachment there...just push in a hose and fill'er up thingy...). In any case, I like the answer. Thanks.

I just figured it out this weekend...the drains off all 3 lines under the shower are "pop-up" type drains, and have 90 deg "T"s through the bottom...I only had to push these down to get them sealed.

...frustrating without a manual... Thanks to all who responded!
