The other benefit of the toad is it's availability as a life boat should something happen. Whether it's running to the nearest town for a thrown belt or a major break down. It gives you options and redundancy. I can't see ever NOT having a toad, no matter what size MH I am driving.

Staying at camp is boring. We have 24.5' class B+ no toad for last 1.5 years. Take into town each day and day park at central park with lawn space to back over. Bike, walk or Uber from there until after dinner then back to camp. Everything's (dog) is always with us and can take a nap any time.

A lot depends on the "why" and "style" of your RV'ing.

We like the quiet side of life - small towns, farming country markets & yard sales, quiet camping/fishing at lakes & rivers, looking for rocks and wildlife out in the boondocks, etc..

We do all of this best with no toad in our non-slide 24 foot Class C. It has about the ground clearance of a pickup truck, so we can carefully take it on gravel & dirt roads. With it's wheelbase of only 158 inches, we can even do a U-turn on many residential streets.

It's built on a Ford E450 chassis, so repair shops at reasonable prices and gasoline for it can be found everywhere.

A Class B/B+ is too small for dual queen beds and for playing board games or watching movies while hunkering down during cold or hot or rainy weather ... and a Class A is too expensive to repair, too big for many off-highway roads, too big for about any town, and too big for use in small intimate state/federal campgrounds.

A Class C fits right in the sweet-spot for RV size, convenience, and most flexible use.

22' Class B+/C-.
Two years and 20,000 miles, no toad and like it that way.
The only place we could not go was Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park.
It was posted "No RV's".
We even found a place to park in down town Seattle, Washington.
Like being able to get in and drive at a moments notice.
Having no slides, short length and only hookup being electric, makes getting on the road almost instantaneous.

FWIW, we took our 24 foot Class C to the top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia NP. We had no problem parking it up there in the parking lot. I guess we must not have seen the sign or maybe we ignored it.

That's just another example of us folks with small RVs having to pay the price of too many large RVs trying to go where they shouldn't.

So you parked your RV in a place where No RV's are allowed to park and you're blaming larger RV's for ruining it for other RV'ers?

Yep.

We parked our small RV in a regular vehicle spot in the parking lot at the top ... thus not causing the problems for other non-RV vehicles up there that a large RV would.

I suspect that in times past large RVs up there before the ban created the need for the ban. Hence us small RV owners are paying the price for something we did not give rise to.

We actually saw the sign and decided to drive to the visitors center.
Had a picture of our 22' class C-/B+ on the phone.
Asked for permission to drive a very small RV.
Mr. Ranger, who lives in his MH while working at the park, said we should be fine.
He asked that we make sure we find a spot that we fit in without blocking the drive.
We drove to the top and decided the top parking area was not a good fit.
A few hundred yards back down the road is an overflow lot that had perfect size parking spots.
Parked and went for a short walk and came back to another Mr. Ranger parked behind our MH.
Mr Ranger seemed quite angry that we didn't follow the no RV rules.
After I explained the visitors center Mr ranger gave us permission, he still kicked us out but decided not to give us a citation.

Plan on going back this year and may try the ranger station where administration is to try and get permission.

I think it's not a matter of whether it's possible to get to Cadillac Mountain with an RV or not -- there was a tour bus up there when we went. He apparently had no trouble. But get a few of them up there at once, and it could be chaos.

31foot class c
Ford Focus toad 4 down

Love the ability to be able to wander about and see the sites, also like to be able to come back to the park after dark and not have to “set up” again.
It’s basically a preference. From tents to pop ups to fifth wheels and class A, love the class c.

Wink RV's and motorcycles... a winning combination!

For us having a 24'Class C {2012 Nexus} is the best of both worlds. We have all of the amenities we could ever want but the ability to grocery get and or sightsee just about anywhere. But... don't limit your horizons by only thinking terms of a traditional TOAD.

For the last 3 years we have been towing motorcycles in variety of trailers behind our coach. This enables us to ride some of the most magnificent roads in America and return to all of the comforts of home at the end of the ride. While the bike can be a fine Toad that is just a secondary benefit of having it back there.

Nothing beats touring the National Parks on a great motorcycle, just not the same as riding through them in a car. My current combo is an Indian Springfield in a 6 X 10' {14' overall} Cargo trailer. Bike and trailer weigh 2,220# so the V-10 has no issues there. Not only is the bike protected and secure it offers a bunch of additional storage... win - win!

We had a class C and started off with no toad. That lasted 6 weeks and then we bought a toad. So much easier to explore with one.

30 ft C - no toad for four years. I will rent a car for a week to see major attractions. Otherwise, I plan my stays where I get get around by bicycle or foot. This body needs as much exercise as possible.
