Noisy Microwave

So far the only complaint I have about our Thor Chateau 31A is that the microwave oven which is mounted above the stove squeaks and rattles when driving over anything but a perfectly smooth surface. Any ideas on how to secure/silence it?

Are any of the rattles the turntable? I take the plastic wheels device out and wrap it and the turntable in a small hand towel and place them together in the microwave while traveling. I have done this on my rigs to positive effect.

Turntable was a problem also, we took it out also. The squeaking seems to have to do with the actual mounting of the unit.

Mine had a lot of squeaks due to fatigue cracks in the louvers in the black metal surround. I removed the four screws holding the surround on and simply put some small adhesive backed rubber door weather stripping around the entire opening. Attached the surround again with the screws and it was completely cured.

It would incessantly squeak prior to this, but has been silent since the repair.

The microwave sits on a plywood platform. If you unscrew it, the microwave will slide out. You can add a layer of closed cell foam insulation on top of the plywood. Set the microwave back on top of the plywood platform. The insulation absorbs the bouncing of the microwave. I found it helps. You also can add a thin strip of insulation underneath and around the metal frame.
