Question Oil change milage?

Just changed my oil in my new MH, V-10 engine, it had 1400 miles on it, wanted Mobil 1 in it, question is will be leaving Houston going to Alaska in 2weeks, approximate miles will be 11-12k, what is the maximum miles before an oil change is needed, can it safely be pushed to the 12k range?

Since your unit is new, I would follow the manual. Probably somewhere between 3000-5000 miles. Mobil 1 is outstanding oil and can go extended distances if you have an extended mileage filter. But since the unit is new, I would split the distance in half. Change oil at 6000 miles. I would not go the entire 12000 miles without changing the oil.
Be sure to keep an eye on the oil level and carry an extra quart. I use Mobil 1 in my unit and change oil every 3000-5000 miles. While my oil fill says 5w-20, I have been using Mobil 1 5w-30 continually, since the unit was new, and have not had to add any oil between changes. Enjoy your trip!

I use the same oil Ford put in it.
Change about 3000/4000 miles.

Also thinking. If you plan to drive 12000 miles. Maybe al least a filter change in the middle might be a good idea.

Stick with the 5000 mile interval. As said above, I also use 5-30 in my motorhome. Just feel a little better with the 30 weight for the higher loads. I was just discussing with a co-worker to day about why Ford is using 5-30 in most eco-boost engines and not in the hard working V10s found in motorhomes and F650's. Mobil 1 oil is a great oil. The Motorcraft semi syn is also great and slightly cheaper. Not sure who makes it though. I do use Mobil 1 in my motorhome but think I may go to Motorcraft 5-30 (because it is free for me).

Where in Alaska are you visiting? Most of the towns have shops that will change your oil, the cities have your Jiffy Lubes, it's easier to let them dispose the used oil. If you have any questions about Alaska, I will be happy to provide information. I have lived here for 35 years and hope to spend a few more in retirement.
