Output will still go through the converter. Check voltage there and at the fuse box

Your outlets should show ~120 volts AC and if your converter is working, it should show 13+ volts DC at the battery test panel. If the batteries are really low, it may take a while to get to 13+ volts.

If I understand you correctly, when you are running the generator with the AC running, the RV lights are dimming. I think your RV lights are most probably 12v not 120v. The generator shouldn't have anything to do with the 12v system except for charging your batteries. If you have 120v lights in your Rv and they are diming, then the generator is not putting up enough power to handle all the loads. do you here the generator stumble when you turn on the Ac? You can check the 120 voltage by reading the voltage on any recepticle.

If your converter is working correctly, your lights should be at full brightness with the generator running or on shore power.

Took to rv shop and they tested Gen and said it was
putting out too much voltage. They don't work on them.
Is there anyway to adjust voltage ? Thanks
