Onan KV Microlite 2800

My generator starts and runs fine at idle, but under the AC Load it misses. It doesn't surge it misses. So I noticed that the carburetor Altitude Adjustment knob is missing. Searched all over the internet parts stores and found no replacement. Not to say that this is the problem but I want one, or at least an idea of how to adjust the spring loaded screw to accommodate my 1200 ft. altitude. the range decal is intact it goes from 0 to 5000 ft. Any ideas would be appreciated. Onan KV 2800 series.

I'll second that you can pry off the plastic, this works fine on even the later model carbed' sets made in the late 2000's. Their idea of altitude adjust might of been fine when new but 15 years later, some wear and tear, ethanol fuel later you gotta get more range of adjustment at times. After all the altitude adjustment is REALLY the 'full load mixture' adjustment of old. One thing we can't convey on the internet is the 'touch and feel' of experience, that is why we can get them off without breaking things-anymore. LOL.this is text from a how to sight that relieved me from my worries, I only had to lean out the mixture by turning the screw to the right about i/4 turn and it ran smoothly

2800 might be borderline for running AC but I guess if it came with it.
