Has anyone removed the over Cab bunk area on a class C Motor Home? I have read the threads on rebuilding and replacement of rotted wood etc. I want mine Gone and will appreciate any info someone might provide such as problems involved and any other suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I did a google search and didn't get any hits on actually removing the cabover. I don't see why it couldn't be done though.

If it's like my cab over you will have to stop where the cab of the van is cut back or risk of leaks but with a good welder you should be able to make it look like a "short" cabover. Just use a lot of silicon sealant around all the new seams and then give it the old hose test to make sure you get all the leaks.

If you do then make sure and take some pics and do a write up and cost. While I don't have any leaks I don't really use our attic and have contemplated something similar. If nothing else it will free up some weight and help reduce the wind resistance.

Yep, I just got done with mine, I posted a few pictures.
It was some work, but I saved a lot of money doing it myself, had my carpenter father in law help

Can't really think that it would be hard to do, probably easier than a good repair job.
DOWNSIDE: Would destroy any resale value, 99.9% of potential buyers would walk away from an RV with that kind of modification.

Looks great but the OP of this thread is talking about removing the over head completely. Windows, wood, shell, and all.

I also misunderstood his question about cab over. I thought entertainment cabinet .I got tired of crawling behind the cabinet to get to wasted space. SO,, I removed the cabinet and converted back to queen bed. Any advice before I start cutting wires. There are enough cables and wires to mount the TV clear over to the passenger side. I am mounting my TV on a retractable mount facing forward on drivers side, viewable to any direction. Question, I see no problem shortening a bunch of wire.? I am taking out VCR and installing Blue Ray. I will now have a bed for grandkids. RV dealers say I made it more sellable. We have now replaced all laminate, installed wood laminate floors, new carpet and re-upholstered most cushions and window top sash. Replaced entire plumbing system. Original was old and brittle. And I repainted all outside striping. Looking pretty good. One more question. I had a blinking blue led for the solar panel on ceiling. Wife didn't like blinking. I replaced with non flashing and now it quit. ??? I find no fuse ?? any advice?? Larry
