A prewax cleaning is good but may not be a must if you don't have any embedded stain issues. Waxing a motor coach is a big job and I try not to add any more work to it than I have to. So other than excessive stains, it's a personal call.

You can use LA Awesome that you can get at the General Dollar stores to clean stains and bugs off. It will also remove wax. Do not use it on the glass. Works well on hard to clean things. Can be used on many surfaces that you would use 409 etc on. It is $1.00 for a 22 oz spray bottle and $3.00 for a 32 oz refill.

As others have already said, unless you have stains, completely stripping the "old" wax off is just extra work.

That being said, I've found using Dawn dish soap does an excellent job of stripping wax off... I've used it to wash both my motorhome and boat before reapplying a fresh coat of wax.

As for stains... my wife saw me scrubbing and scrubbing on the back of the MH one day and suggested I try a Mr. Clean pad. AMAZING!... it cut through the stain like magic. though I ended up having to use it (actually an entire box), because they left super clean spot where-ever I'd used it.

Best of luck... it's a big, really big, job, but worth it when all done.

Really big Job is right, I used to do it once a year on a previously owned T/T. I loved doing it at first. but then It got to be more work than fun.

However, when we got rid of that trailer after seven years, it still looked new.
Hope to keep the new to us DP in that great of shape.
