Rattle and whistle of entry door - best tips

Our 2001 fleetwood jamboree class c has an entry door at rattles and whistles. Seems to be aligned fine. What tips do folks have for reducing the shake, rattle & hum? The gaskets seem fine. Even getting the whistle fixed (starts at about 50 mph) would be good progress.

If you look at the round pin on you entry door opening, it sets the distance the door closes. It sounds like it could be adjusted in a tad, having it in will stop the air rush and seal the door tighter. The pin is adjustable by turning counterclockwise it will loosen, it will be tight but it is adjustable, This is also like the pin on auto doors. It may have a allen head or star on the end. I had to use a pair of water-pump pliers on mine. Make your adj. just snug enough to try, then if all is good tighten. It will go up and down as well so just make sure it is where you want it before it's tight. Hope this helps, most doors are adjustable in some manner. Good luck and safe travels

Might check the screen door as the culprit for your rattle. Took DW a couple of weeks to figure out where the screen door needed to be "formed" to stop the rattle when on the road. Bruce most likely has the whistle nailed.

Thanks. I will check it this weekend. Unfortunately my door doesn't have the standard pin that many car doors have. I will grab a photo when I have a moment.

Wanderso,

Try wrapping some electrical tape around the latch post. I did that on mine and it reduced the rattles and squeeks by about 80%. Aligning the post and bending the screen door slightly will help as well.

Good luck!

John

Hey there - here are some pictures of the latch mechanism. I will attempt some adjustments on Saturday. Have others seen this style?

Wanderso,
I believe the screws that have the slots will adjust in and out, the opposite picture the philips will adjust up and down. Good luck.

Hey -I gave to a shot. Unfortunately the screws loosen but don't adjust the mechanism side to side despite how much they are loosened. Hmm....
