Replaced jackknife sofa

We are replacing our jackknife sofa with a more comfortable dual reclining sofa. It appears the new sofa will extend out a few inches from the slide base it sits on. Has anyone dealt with this or have an idea of best way to support front of sofa?

We had the same problem. I used a wooden dowel attached to the front frame of the chairs. It glides across the carpet without issue and also keeps the chairs from rocking. I left about 1/4" gap so the dowel did not bind.
