Ummmm - tell us a little more please.
Did you want a gas scooter? Electric scooter?
A friend has an electric scooter that folds and he puts it under his class A gasser. It is a Uber Scooter and really "scoots" along. It only sits one though.....

I just rented a 49CC gas, 2 seat scooter. I am over 300 lbs and was impressed with the performance. I wouldn't try it with me and a passenger.
It didn't fly up the Ft. Myers Beachs, steep bridge, but it did OK only dropping to 25 ish MPH. On the level roads it got up to 35 MPH easily.
Under 50cc, in most states, doesn't require a MC license, so unless you have one, that may be a consideration.
If you guys are average 150- 180 lbs, the 49cc may be worth a look.
I don't remember the brand but a call to Quicke Scooters and Bikes rental should get you that info.
See if you can rent one nearby.

I have 4 friends that have gone the scooter route. One couple had a 50cc 2 stroke that was just okay, but not great with 2 up. The others were 125 to 150cc four strokers. Much better but heavier. Shop around and see what you like by trying some out is the best advice I can give. Think about loading and unloading as well. 3 of the couples were 375 plus pounds together and the 150cc was a single guy.
Happy Glamping.
Ps, I like power, so my 160 hp. GXSR 1100 works for me! (It's not stock)

Problem:
These days people use scooter to refer to a wide variety of vehicles.
Some are small motorcycles.
Some are closer to being golf carts.
Others are little more than electric wheel chairs.
Please provide a more specific description of what you are wanting and if it is something that will be driven on public roads. State laws vary.

49cc, from what I remember, are street legal in the US @ 25mph with 1 passenger. Yes they can be configured otherwise.

I’ve been looking on Craigslist every location we’ve been over the last 8 months. What I’ve noticed is a lot of China brands, mostly in the 150 cc size for about 1k used. If they are less then not running or no title. I’m not willing to go the no title route.
Cycle trader website has new old models for under 900, from a company in Illinois that will ship- per ad, never did business with them so not sure if it is legitimate.

Options are wide open. They make great mounts for everything from a small scooter to a touring size MC where only one person is needed to mount and dismount. Good luck with your choice.

Be aware that some of the older Japanese scooters from brand name manufacturers can be difficult to get parts for. Yamaha in particular has poor support for older scooters. I have an old Riva 180 and I keep a spare for parts. Even the drive belt is proprietary and obsolete.

Are you talking pulling a small trailer with the scooter in it ?
Or haul it on a MC rack attached to your hitch ?
If the later ,,, remember to mount it high or will definitely drag if not careful going through dips and inclines .
