The awning on our slide-out over the galley/sofa area is in need of replacement but we are going away for a week the end of July. I've seen it starting to dry rot recently , but our last road trip up to Jekeyll really started to peel away some of the materiel
How critical is it to keep to roof area dry or protected by the awning for a short time ?

On our trailer, we don't have an awning over the slide room. We sweep it off before sliding it back in and put up with a wet interior if it's raining when we slide it in but, I don't think it hurts anything.

Enjoy your trip!

Morning surf-fisher, I don't believe it is critical at all. Many RV's with slides do not have awnings over them.

I think I would rather have window awnings than the slideout awning, even though ours came with one ... The window awnings would help with sunlight, etc.

A full awning over the slide keeps the slide cooler and keeps all the leaves from being dragged into your slide seals.... I vote for them
