Slide topper cover

Looking to add slide topper. I have the option to add the plastic / metal cover. Add on cost would be around 125.00. Is it worth it? A good idea?

Also the dealer wants to collect shipping on the topper too. Thoughts?

I think you are asking about the solid, plastic+metal cover that mounts at the top edge of the slide, not on the RV box, right? Such that when you are driving down the road the wind cannot catch the rolled-up topper fabric and unravel it as you drive 62 mph down the highway, right?

I would get them. At the very least, it's going to save you frustration and keep your toppers from whipping and fraying in the wind.

Have had the metal covers on every one we've had since around 1998. Wouldn't be without them.
As to the shipping, well, the stealer has to pay it, so one way or the other so will you! Either as a higher price that includes it or an add'l charge.

Don't! Slide toppers are more trouble than they are worth. The wind does not blow downward...it blows sideways and blows leaves/debris/small branches under the topper making it harder to clean out. Don't forget the ice / snow problem that is caused when trying to retract the slide. Also, why are the high end coach manufactures like Foretravel / Prevost / Newell not putting them on their models, because they are not needed.
