SMART converter/charger question

I have been having a problem with my coach batteries (12 volt auto not deep cycle)going dead. They are dead now.I measure 13.8 VDC at the Parallax 7155 CC output.I believe this is too high a voltage as I read it should be around 13.2VDC.Ibelieve I have COOKED the batteries.I keep it plugged in to a 20 amp 120vac outlet when at home and now realize that's not a good idea.I think I will convert to a SMART converter charger like a progressive dynamics.I have only been RVing 2 years and I have learned a lot. Thanks

You can replace the "Guts" of that parallex with a Progressive Dynamics 4600 series and sticker the door (One of the best smart chargers made.. Most of the rest are also Progressive Dynamics)

13.8 is not alarming at all when it comes to voltage 13.6 is normal float as I recall. 0.2 might be meter error. I'd not necessarily trust the calibration on those meters less I did it (and yes.. I've done it).

Home is where I park it!
