Sprinter Back-up Keys

If anybody needs a backup key, made for their motor home , on a dodge sprinter chassis, your local dodge dealer can help you out.

I contacted Westborn Chrysler /Jeep in Dearborn ,Michigan.

What they need is your proof of ownership (registration), photo I.D.,
Vin number of your vehicle .

You pay up front, then they order your key.

The key is laser cut and programed in Germany, it will take about a week to ten days to get your copy key.

Cost is about $265.00 for this service.

I hope this clears up, any confusion or concerns, about extra ignition keys for those whose RV, is on a dodge sprinter chassis.

Sprinter Back-up Keys

Most any good locksmith can make you a copy of your key, I had several made for around $75 each.

There's a reason they call them 'stealerships'.

I just purchased a second key for the used Volkswagen Eos I purchased that only had one key.

Purchased the key from dealer parts department $145. after proving ownwership to the vehicle and when it arrived I made an appointment with the service department for the key to be programmed $130.

You have to love those Germans for the immobilization feature and the fact that they are the only ones that can program the key so the vehicle will start!

The manufacturers think they have an ultra secure system, it's all double talk and BS.

Any decent locksmith has aftermarket 'chipped' key blanks they put your existing key in a machine that reads the RFID chip then put the new key in and make it a 'photocopy' of your factory key.

They developed this setup in response the Mercedes 8 key ECM unit. Even the dealer couldn't program more than 8 keys, so if you lost a few and a couple slots went bad you were out $2k for a new ECM unit. Somebody figured out all they had to do was read a previous key and reproduce it.
