Strange thing with chassis battery

Is it possible that if I didn't turn on the Coach Battery Disconnect switch (open position) before opening my chassis disconnect knife switch (to store my rv) that the coach batteries could still be connected to the chassis and allowing the engine to start?

It's weird because I swear the knife switch has been working fine (killing all power) and yesterday when I opened the knife blade, I could still start my RV!

I'm going to go look deeper at it today after work but thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone has experienced anything like this. I even completely removed the black terminal completely off the battery neg side and I still started the RV with just the red terminal connected. Weird...............

If your battery separator / isolator is not working properly then yes this sounds possible.

When I went over there yesterday, it was dead as it should have been. (no power to engine) I'm wondering if there was 12 volts lingering on the red side and it just needed to dissipate down to zero with the return disconnected. Oh well, either way, I put my meter on it with the knife switch in both positions and it's 12v, then zero so I guess it's working correctly now.
