Watch the smaller A's. If you are going to try that route read the problem lists that have been posted. We went from a 22 ft C to a 28 ft C and found it was almost what we want but there are a lot of do not want's in the 30 Plus or minus ft units that have resulted in us not trading again because we cannot find the perfect combination. If you want hanging closets half of them are too short so half the units do not really have them. Toilets on a raised floor section are often higher than ADA units so one's feet dangle. Shower step up/down can be a problem. There is not enough battery to run a residential refrigerator. Those are a few of our deal breakers. You will find your own. The good news is that there are used units in your price range.

Class A under 30'. plenty of storage, better tank capacities (Water and waste). Gas mileage, oh well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

Jay--the RV show is at NRG center; the last day is Feb. 8. We were there today and there are HUNDREDS of RVs. You could walk thru RVs all afternoon and get a good idea of which models you like best.

Try 1 out of 3. About half or more of the C layouts have the big full width trunk under the bedroom. That is a huge amount of space. Then there is the bunk area in front with another huge chunk of room as long as it is not heavy stuff.

FWIW just looked at ACE again. 50 gal fresh, >40 gray but 28 gal black tank. If the bathroom is plumbed into the black tank it will will faster than anything else. Silly setup IMHO.

Forester, by Forest River

We saw the Forester, by Forest River for the first time this weekend at the RV show. We looked at a 30' and loved it. Sofa/recliners & a dining table. Captains seats swivel around, not deeply recessed like most C's. Queen walk around bed, large fridge/freezer. Lots of counter space. All things my current 25' C doesn't have. We are really considering trading for one.

You might take a look at Nexus. We love our Phantom 28P, 29'7", plenty of storage , full walk around queen bed and excellent quality construction.

The "Just Right?" Class C

We've been considering downsizing ourselves (for years!). You may seriously want to look at the smaller Class A's. They seem to have way more storage and usable space than the equivalent size Class C...and interestingly enough they seem to be cheaper (!), at least in the used category. Not sure why many used Class C's run a premium, but I think the small Class A's are worth a look.

Our class C, Forest River Sunseeker 2860, sounds like it has the space you mentioned. It has 2 slideouts and a walkaround queen size bed. 30 ft. Purchased our 2007 used for 29k with 10k in mileage.
