Tire change

I need to pull the passenger side rear inner tire of my Class C. I have everything to do it except a jack. Do you all have recommendations on what type and brand of jack do I need? Where would be a good place to by one? Thanks in advance.

Bottle jack

We have a 24' Class C and use a 12 ton Bottle Jack . It lifts the MH with no problem .
However , anything larger , 26' - 31' I would want a 20 ton Jack.
I purchased ours at Harbor freight for a good price and have been happy with the quality .
Safety note , after removing the inner wheel I always put the outer wheel back on for safety while the MH is on the Jack.

The OP's recommendation for a 20T hyd jack is excellent.
You need to add a jack stand to be fully safe.
3Ton or greater would work great.
Be Safe.

harbor freight pneumatic

I got a pneumatic jack which is easier to use and cost about $80.00. 14 ton which is plenty strong for a class c.

Just a word of caution for those who may not be aware. When you buy a set of 3-Ton jack stands, it almost ALWAYS means that the TWO stands will support 3 Tons! Seems almost criminal to me, but it seems to be an industry standard. Usually each stand has "3 Tons" or "3 T" embossed on its casting......but it "means" for both stands. Just nuts!

When you buy a set of jack stands read all the fine print/specs, or whatever .......... before you crawl underneath your rig. I bought a set of 6 Ton stands to replace my so-called 3 Ton set. The 6-Ton stands are huge and weigh 25 lb each ..... the cast ratchet bar on each stand says 6 Tons but that's for both stands according to the "sticker" on the side.

Safe travels (and safe "wrenching").............

I'm not positive on this, but that 20 ton bottle jack also needs a cradle for it to lift the axle safely and the cradle cost almost as much as the jack. I do carry a little rinky dinky bottle jack incase I get a flat on my car dolly.

True that. I bought this to use on my 6 ton bottle jack. This company also makes compact 5 ton jack stands.

Charles L,

I'm not a member of the BOHICA that I'm aware of. What is the BOHICA?

BT2 is a rate and pay grade in the US Navy.

If you were a boiler technician second class you would know what BOHICA is. Sorry I was mistaken. Your forum name made me think you were.

I did a Google search and got (no kidding)...

“Bend Over Here It Comes Again”

Is that even close?

You got it

It was a joke we BT's used to say since we were always getting screwed. Working late, fixing machinery, old grouchy chiefs securing liberty, etc.
