Tpms on 4 out of 6 tires, tire questions...

Currently have a TPMS on only the outside dually tires - does anyone have actual experience how the PSI would increase on the outside tire if an unmonitored inside tire would deflate? Currently set to alarm me above 88 PSI

tires are 75 psi cold rated 80 max but I see pressure go up to 85 on the front tires on a hot day, freeway 66 mph - problem?

The temperature of the good tire Will increase dramatically and cause tire failure, most likely belt separation, before over-pressure ever becomes a primary factor. The pressure increase will be masked by normal pressure variations between a cold and a running tire. Irrespective of the original cause, it is temperature that causes failure.
Also one must remember that the sidewalls are what holds up the rim. So the pressure increase is not very large if one of the duals blows.

Tires are a funny thing. For us that drive RVs they are even funnier. Why did this tire full of tread with less than 20,000 miles just blow out? The answer can be a number of reasons. The number one reason that tires blow out and leave their tread on the road is a combination of heat and age. Believe it or not tires have a shelf life of about five years. On the side of a tire there is a date code. It will read something like this: 9CR 1512. The number you want to look it was 1512. That means that the tire was made in the 15th week of 2012 or somewhere in the last week of March of this year. You will have to look at your tires for the codes.

Why would an outside tire get higher pressure than the inside tire? A very good question as well but again it is all about temperature. The outside tire will run a bit hotter than the inside because it is exposed to the road and the elements like the sun while the inside is exposed only to the road surface it is shielded from the effects of the sun. If there is a very drastic difference between the two one may have a slow leak or one may be starting to separate inside. This could mean a blowout in the near future. Check the outside tire for signs of dry-rot and for bulging in any area. You also may want to verify the pressure with a gauge just to be sure. Inflate your tires to the prescribed PSI while they are cold. If you want use nitrogen in the tires to keep them more stable. Properly inflated tires on cars, trucks and RVs will make for better gas mileage and a longer life in your tires. The hotter a tire gets the higher the PSI. Good luck and I hope this helped.

Two more sensors will probably cost less than $100.

Since your picture shows you have youngsters on board, it would be a VERY wise investment.

Note that dual tire ratings are always less than twice the individual or single tire rating. Duals have poorer air circulation on the inner sidewalls as well as the area covered by the disk brake assembly and therefore are derated.
Unexplained inner dual blow-out can sometimes be explained from disk brake calipers that do not completely release the pads. This heats up the hub and the rims. The outer rim gets plenty of cooling at highway speeds, but not the inner rim. Check the caliper slide faces and make sure an anti seething compound is applied ( silicone grease or molybdenum disulfide). Keep both tires inflated to spec. pressure and never mix a very worn dual tire with a new one , the new one has a larger diameter and will carry most of the load and overheat.
