I took entries from the manual and added some of my one to personalize it:

TO DINGY TOW
Connect tow vehicle.

Start the engine. Use spare key. Keep one in your pocket.

Shift the transmission to N (Neutral).

Shift the transfer case to 2 ⬆️.

Turn the transfer case knob clockwise to N (Neutral) until it stops and hold it there until the N (Neutral) light starts blinking. This will take at least 10 seconds. Then slowly release the dial to the 4 ⬇️ position. The N (Neutral) light will come on when the transfer case shift to N (Neutral) is complete.

Verify that the transfer case is in N (Neutral) by shifting the transmission to R (Reverse), then shift the transmission to D (Drive). There should be no movement of the vehicle while shifting transmission.

Turn the engine off. Then shift the transmission into P (Park).

Wait for at least 10 seconds, then restart the engine.

Shift the transmission to D (Drive), then turn the engine off again.

Connect Brake Buddy. Close windows. Lock doors with drivers door open.

Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Shift the transmission to P (Park).

Move the steering wheel to make sure the steering column is unlocked.

Keep the ignition key in the towed vehicle in ACC/ ACCESSORY to prevent the steering column from locking

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

RETURN TO NON-TOWING

Set the parking brake, then shift the transmission to P (Park), and move the ignition key to OFF.

Connect the battery.
(Disconnect cable)
(Turn off motorhome lights)

Apply the brake pedal

Turn the ignition to ON/RUN with the engine off.

Shift the transmission to N (Neutral).

Turn the transfer case knob to the desired setting.

After the transfer case has shifted out of N (Neutral), the N (Neutral) light will go out.

Start the engine and shift the transmission to the desired gear

Check that the vehicle is in Two-Wheel Drive High by shifting the transmission to R (Reverse) and then to D (Drive). There should be movement of the vehicle while shifting.

Shift the transmission to P (Park) and turn off the ignition.

Disconnect the vehicle from the tow vehicle.

Release the parking brake.

I'm no authority either, but from what I've seen here 4wd is generally used to indicate 4 wheel drive. 4 down towing is usually expressed as 4 down, or something like that. I was a little confused at first, but I think you clarified that it was 2wd in your post about reading the manual to determine if the vehicle was towable.

IMHO, we're all new at something. I'm presently doing a little plumbing using PEX at the house. Try figuring out all the varieties and methods of attaching that stuff sometime.

If it were me and I really wanted to tow the truck I would look on eBay, Craigslist, and similar places for a driveshaft disconnect. Even though it could be towed without a disconnect, I bought one for the Tracker there for much less than new. It is usually towed coast to coast every year at about 70 mph. I thought disconnect would cut down on some wear and not add miles on the odometer.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.
