Vista 21B Trim Problem

G'day all,

My Vista 21B has a piece of trim coming loose above both cab doors.
Does anybody have any information about fixing it. I want to repair it, not simply caulk it. That was done before I purchased it and that too is failing.
See pictures here http://www.irv2.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=29965

Regards, Karl

Hi Karl
Can you tell how it was attached originally? Do any screw heads show on the underside? You may have to carefully pull it away from the body and check. Either way your main focus should be on keeping the water out when reapplying it. Nothing worse than water rot in the front section of a C class rig. See if you can figure out how it was put on in the first place and I'll tell you what I think. It could have been keyed into the panel, held on with foam tape or glued.

I assume you have a piece of vinyl trim inside your metal trim piece. If you remove the vinyl you will see all the screws that secure the metal trim to the bottom of the bunk board and front wall. It's quite possible, seeing that gap, where the trim piece and sealant have parted, that water has got in there and caused the screws to rust out and loose their holding power, as well as causing the bunk board to rot. Any soft spots inside, on the bunk board ?
