Want to install inverter - need guidance

Hello all,

just purchased a 2016 coachmen leprechaun 320bh - has the dual batteries. I just want to power an outlet in the kitchen area for a small quick cup of coffee while in motion - also power 2 separate outlets for tv's in motion ( i still need to install - thing just simple best buy, smart for wifi use) while the kids use the wifi to watch netflix - also few cell phones can charge and or laptops while driving. What am i looking at here in terms of makes / models of inverters? I have 12v experience - also wired outlets etc in my house - im thinking something like a pass - thru or just a simple - shut off the inverter before shore power / generator use. I see the main breakers at my rear bed, was thinking of connecting there - since all the drops run back to there. Just need some guidance on the lastest & greatest out there & what am i missing - if we could run that small fridge - would be great - i can stay off the lp. My first rv - have alot of questions - as i was not showed anything. Thanks everyone - in advance!

Leave the fridge on gas. They draw 35 or more amps DC thru an inverter. That's a real battery killer.

The low budget setup would be a 1000 watt pure sine wave inverter. Hook it near the batteries with 2 gauge wires and a 150 amp fuse. Run a cord to what you want to power or install an outlet, wired to the inverter. It will make coffee ( my Mr. Coffee draws 700 watts ) or run TV and Dish.

I use a Xantre X PS1000. I Leave it on when using the MH, since it only draws 1/2 an amp.

From there, things get more complicated and more expensive.

I run my inverter thru a separate auto transfer switch to a few outlets, fed by 1 breaker in my panel. That way the charger, fridge, microwave and AC can't run off it.

There are as many ways to add an inverter, as there are RV owners...how and where to mount - how and what to power - etc.

Here's a recent discussion:
