Warranty work

Bought my class C in Davis Ca. Best price around. Called about getting some warranty work done. They said i'll have the warranty manager give you a call. Hasn't happened yet(i will call again this AM?) Called CW of Roseville and was told any warranty work that Forest River does not authorize i will have to pay the diagnostic fee for each one. $75.00 to $150.00 per each.Anyone run in to this.
Thanks.
Mike

Sounds about right. Even though its diagnostic work it still takes up shop time and wages still have to be paid. If FR won't pay for the time spent someone has to and that ends up falling upon the owner of the rig. No one likes to work for free.

You take your new RV out for a week to sight see. While traveling you discover a few issues(seat belt coupler broken/toilet installed wrong/noisy water pump. This is what i told them was my problems. No diagnosis needed. So if Forest river say's no what is it i am be charged for?

Take it to a forest river authorized repair center. They will fix what is wrong but it won't be quickly. Takes a week or so normally.

Thanks Charles. I thought dealers who sold the product were the authorized repair center. Are you referring to Forest river themselves?
Thanks again.

First problem is having CW do any work on your rig. Not a CW fan, myself based on past issues with work performed there and poorly trained personnel. The OP is correct in saying just find and go to a FR dealer and build a relationship there. You'll be miles ahead in the long run.

It has to be an authorized repair. FR has the info. You can go the other way and get it fixed, but you will pay the bill upfront while waiting and hoping FR will authorize and reimburse you. Go to the FR website and email or call your representative. Wait 48 hours for your response. I find that they will authorize legitimate claims if done at one of their approved repair centers, usually in their dealer network. You should find one in your general area.

We own a Thor now but had a Georgetown previously. I'd call or email as Charles suggested and asked for authorized warranty shops close to you. I'd also agree that CW is very low on my list of personally authorized shops. Not a CW fan.

I have a Winnebago View. I've taken it in for what I thought was a problem that would be covered by warranty. I have been charged for labor when they could not duplicate the issue. I don't like that this happens but it has paid off for me.

I have a window that has failed now at 1.5 yrs, the warranty ended 0.5 yrs ago yet since I had a water leak that they couldn't duplicate on the same window they are going to supply a new window (not labor).

I don't hesitate to bring my unit in for issues. Perhaps it's dealing with a reputable dealer. Now with the basic warranty expired I still bring it in with individual system warranty work (fridge, hot water, etc).

I also have the oil, etc. taken care of at Mercedes so there is no question that I've done the proper maintenance if I have problems in the future.

It may cost a bit more now but I feel that it's cheap insurance for future problems.
