Water leaks
I'm interested in hearing how, what you guys used to stop a water leaks.
I'm on the edge of saling ours because I discovered another leak in the fantastic fan. What didn't help was we received about 3" of rain in a few short hours.
My first leak, which I'm not sure is fixed, is in the nose cap. The wood inside was delaminating and once that was removed the frame work was soaked. I have caulked the seams several times. I'm wondering if I should make a 4" wide half inch thick layer of caulk on ALL seams to prevent any more leaks. We have a '07 Winnebago Access we bought last year. I thought a fiberglass roof would solve my issue with roof leaks.

I had a rear cap leak on my fifth wheel. I put 4" wide Eternabond tape over the top of the seam (after repairing and rescrewing the seam). No more leaks. Eternabond is the stuff. If you remove your Fantastic Fan, remove all caulk carefully, clean, use new Fantastic gasket, caulk, let set, then Eternabond around the edges. I can't imagine how that would leak. Trick is clean the surface well, work slowly and never, ever use any kind of silicone.

Cruzbill,
Do you think I could use the Eternabond tape on the seams of the cap? The seams run from the roof around the front of the cap and under the cap back to the coach. I know I can use that for the seam of where the roof meets the cap and the same for the rear.

Water leaks
What cruzbill said will solve your problems. No shortcuts though. Clean the old, re-caulk Dicor is great for this, let it dry. This is your primary seal.
Then clean again for an even better application use the Eternabond primer then apply Eternabond tape. This will be the secondary seal.

Thanks Spk64. I'll look for the primer also. Should this be done to all the seams once a year or just when there is an issue?

Eternabond will work, but I wonder if what you suggest would look good cosmetically- I can't see what you propose, so you'll have to judge about the looks. SPK64; good call on the primer, its been years since I did my 5ver.

Done right will last many years. Penetrations that just have dicor need checked yearly.

Ok cruzbill. You are right I think that will be a judgment call. I'll lay it up there an look at it first before applying it.
