Water Pressure

probably a dumb question but hey i'm famous for them. Since pex water lines are being used in new construction in residential housing, which has 100psi avg. pressure then why does RV's still recommend 50psi? please no recommending trying it to find out why.

The lines are rated max 100psi, however other things in the plumbing are not IE valves, water heater, connection points.

FWIW - I always assumed it was because the pumps were rated for about that pressure. ;-)

I would think another consideration would be the pex fittings in a sticks and bricks structure are not usually subject to twisting, vibrations, and general rock n rollin in everyday use. Or at least hopefully not.

Ours is set for 45 psi but since it's plumbed in I guess I need to put a gauge on it to be sure. Our favorite campground gets to 120 psi at times so we have to have a regulator. The offices sells the inline restrictors, not the good regulators.

I set mine at 50 pounds.

Cheap RV fixtures.....plastic faucets, plastic shower diverter etc.
Then have the toilet water inlet valve and vacuum breaker
Then there are the connections/fittings
Water pump internal diaphragms (check valve)
City water inlet check valve-----cheap plastic junk

Water Heater isn't an issue. It can handle 200 PSI +


New water pumps are 55 PSI discharge
Water pressure regulators should be used and set for 50 psi (Static)

thanks for the responses I hadn't considered the fixtures. I will also get a regulator.
