Water Pump Continuously Runs
Water pump runs continuously. I think the circled item in this photo is a filter which is leaking and needs replaced - but when searching for parts according to the Shurflo model number, this part does not show up. Even when looking at a full diagram of model 4008 101 E65, this part does not show. Any tips?

RV Water Pump Strainer
RV Water Pump Strainer, 1/2" Pipe Twist-on, SHURflo 170-061-29 - My Green Outdoor
Either your leak is big enough the pump never catches up or the pressure switch is bad.
I'm sure there are cheaper places to buy the strainer. Just sent link for the picture.
I found you can buy new pump with pressure switch for a few $$ more than buying switch.

People on a Facebook page seem to have the right answer. This is a newer pump so I hope it’s not the pressure switch. Manufactured 8/2017.
I think it’s the faulty filter and they don’t make the one I have anymore so you have to get the new kind. See photo.

The picture is an old style strainer. Install a new style. Should be available at any RV store. Check the inlet water valve for your city water is in the correct position otherwise your pump will not build pressure and will run continually. If that is all ok, you either have a defective pressure switch or the pump is worn out.

Oh geez - what would I do without avfordguy. Well I’m hoping he meant they don’t make it anymore so this is the new one to use? Either way I’ll see if it works and go from there. After all, mine leaks.
Another theory is that I put the water hose on pretty low because I’m a newb and trying to be careful. I do also have an adjustable water pressure regulator so I probably don’t need to turn the hose on so low.

Thanks! I think you hit the nail on the head as this is what I’ve gathered from multiple sources. I’ll update everyone once I put the new one on.

I think I failed to understand at first - you don’t run the pump when connected up to city water.

TIP: When your water is on shoreline hose you need Pressure REGULATOR, but you do NOT need to run pump, and pump should NOT be under pressure, IF the CHECK VALVE IN THE PUMP OUTLET works properly; if it leaks, city water can backflow and overfill your fresh water tank thru the pump.

Let me repeat this back to you - keep the pump off when on city water or risk back-flow to the fresh water tank?

Depending on your plumbing setup.......... My Winnebago View has no gravity fill. You hook the hose up to the fill fitting/check valve (city water connection) and it has a valve, in one position, the water goes from the hose to the tank, and also pressurizes the system. If you flip the valve, it stops filling the tank. If I shut off the water at the spigot, and forget to move the selector valve away from tank fill, the pump runs continuous when it is turned on.
It gets water from the bottom of the tank, and pumps it back thru the fill line to the top of the tank. Simply turning the valve away from the tank fill position stops this.
I do not use the hose/city water to pressurize the system, too much chance of damage, leaks, etc. I fill the tank and immediately disconnect and use the pump till I need to refill again. I also only turn on the pump when I need it.
