Water Pump Recommendations

Have a Shurflo that went bad at burning man this year and it wasn't very old. Was wondering what suggestions everyone has on a comparable, but reliable water pump that is as quiet as possible. Not really into the low rumbling noise of a water pump if it is possible to avoid. I have a 1992 Class C 27' Fleetwood Tioga Montara.

I'd contact ShurFlo and tell them my nearly new pump failed. They might send you a new one, gratis. It has happened before, and they do stand behind their products.

Well, I looked back in my receipts a little more and saw that I had it installed in 2014. So we are way beyond the warranty. But still 5 years isn't really a long time to work when the other one was working well enough for 20 years.

Which pumps last longer?

What was wrong with your old pump? They are very much rebuild-able. they don't get much better than SureFlow.

Doesn't matter about being out of warranty. Call them and ask, be concerned about the failure after 5 years, and be polite, and you might be surprised.

ShurFlo pumps are usually bullet proof. If you got "that one" and sound really disappointed about it, they might replace it for free. I've read about folks that have gotten replacements for free after 10 years of use.

Sure flow also makes a "quiet kit" to lessen the pump noise, I installed one and it works great, I can barely hear it run.

Shurflow makes a variable speed water pump that is very quiet, but about double the cost of their basic pump. Also somewhat longer so you need to examine what space you have.

Also, you can try mounting your water pump with a 1/4 rubber piece between the pump and the motorhome, that might diminish the reverberations considerably.
