I have just purchased a National 39' 2001 Tradewinds LTC DP that my wife and I just love so we are in the process of out fitting it with the little things that you do when buy a coach and we are wondering about a water softner, what brand is best?, how is the best way to hook it up and how do you store it when your not using it, and most of all does it really make a difference??

Testimonial: it makes a huge difference, especially in the southwest. Good suds in the shower and no dry skin. No build-up in the faucet screens.
We have the 16,000 grain Double In The Go. Recharge is between 2 and 12 weeks apart, depending on local hardness. I cable lock it to the pedestal. It rides in my toad.

Reviews are mixed, and some ripoff reports. Not good in hardness over 30. Smells? Employees that bash it. Etc

I installed a TravelSoft unit onboard using quality hoses and a few extra valves and am extremely happy. The control valve and opening for adding the salt were the deciding factor in choosing this one. It, along with a sediment and a charcoal filter (2 separate housings) provide us with outstanding water. Don't even have to wipe down the shower walls. Use soft water to wash the coach and toad. No spots. It's one of the best investments we made! I'm a plumber so piping it onboard was easy and I don't have to worry about theft etc. It does take up some space though. I highly recommend it. PS - the clothes come out real nice and clean in the washer!
