I have a 97 Tioga class C and I am in need of help on the plumbing. Can someone tell me how the single water heater bypass should be plumbed from the factory? Replaced the waterheater and cannot get hot water. When the valve is one way, nothing comes out of the hot water spigot and in the other direction it is just cold water. The heater works because I can open the pressure relief and get hot water. Any help?

With the valve set where you only get COLD water from hotside of faucet is the 'BYPASS' position

Valved turned the other way would be 'NORMAL---IN SERVICE' position.
It must be working as you stated you have hot water via relief valve

The fact you get no hot when valved normal suggests the 'check valve' in hot outlet (TOP connection) has failed.
Check valve is internal of the nipple screwed into tank.

Most hot water heater by-pass valves have a tee with a valve in each line... the two lines off the tee are connected together... you have to switch both valves to get by-pass and switch both valves to get water to run through the hot water heater...

I would assume that the tabs on the valves would be parallel to the line going directly into the hot water heater... when in the water heater position and the tabs on the valve would be 90* to the line when in the bypass position...

They look and function like a ball valve...
