Wink What is that perfect sweet spot?

Hi, guys!

With what you know now about RV's...

What year would you say is the perfect year to buy a used RV? 1, 2, or 3 years old?

Thanks!

Hans

Determine your budget - what you want to spend. Identify a couple three quality brands. Go back in years till your budget and the RV prices align. Imho.

Thus is basically how we have purchased the three class A motorhome we've had over the years.

This exactly!

Then be very patient. You will eventually find a unit that was meticulously cared for and lightly used. Be prepared to move quickly when you do.

Low miles does not mean it's in good shape. I'd rather take a higher mileage unit that has been well maintained over one several years old with low mileage.
These things are built to be used. When they sit things go bad.

I dont think any two peoples sweet spot will be the same. My personal sweet spot is when it has took the major hit on depreciation. This puts me at ten year old units. I dont want to spend 20 k a year to own an rv. If money is no object, then maybe one year old will still yield you good savings over new, and the factory bugs have been ironed out. Everything in between is on a sliding scale. The older it gets the less they cost to own, as long as it has been cared for, and doesnt have a million miles on it.

Since your in the C area I would look to the running gear with the 6 speed trans if within budget. Second would be the 5 speed at the best price point and only research on your part to make and model will tell. And as always be patient and the price will be better.
