I'm in the beginning stages of considering a move to a class c from a travel trailer. It looks like a one or two year old one can be had for $20 to $30K less than a new one. Do they lose that much in the first year or two or can you really get a lot off of the sticker price? What is a good starting point for the negotiations?

RV's like boats seem to loose 25% the first year. Look into hold overs that are still new and carry all the factory warrenties. We bought our C last year (it's a 2005 model) when the 2006's were out and knocked a little better than 25% off the sticker. Scotty.

Hi, I read an article a couple of years ago that said the deprecitation rate for the 1st 3 years were as follows. Year 1 was 18%, year 2 was 12%, year 3 was 10%, then drops to 8% for several years. Later on around year 10 the price may actually go up!! but not much. I have tried these figures on various MH's and they seem not too far off in general. But there are so many variables it is a hard thing to pin down. You just have to do the leg work and price as many as you can to see a trend and find a price and rig that works for you. Good luck.

Apparently, the dealer really loves his Class Cs. Not only would they not budge from the sticker price, they wanted to offer me just 40% of what I paid for my travel trailer 2 years ago. I thought i'd get 60% to 70% not just 40%. They can keep their Class C. I'm sure there's a dealer somewhere that would like to move one off their lot.
