What Would You Rather Deal With?
Well our search continues for a affordable (I like to say vintage) Class C motor home. Within our price range it looks like I will have to deal with either water damage (leaks) or mechanical issues (breaks, tires, belts, etc). Given the choice which would you rather deal with?

Mechanical damage if it is a reasonable handiman fix..... I have the unsightly interior damage in my current used rig and I hate it plus...I have no clue what else (like MOLD and rot) is lurking in the roof or walls.

"Better the devil you know than the one you don't" Brakes, belts, tires, ect... All known wear items with age/use. Water damage/leaks...Who knows whats behind those walls!

I'd rather have mechanical problems over leaks/water damage any day.

Although mechanical problems can get you in a lot of trouble financially, usually they are more easily resolved.

Mechanical over water damage any day of the week.
And I hope it is Brakes you are dealing with rather than breaks.

You folks have convened me to rule out about 90% of what's on the market. How had will it be to find a "leak free" motor home?

Some water leaks can never be cured...or so we decided with a former motorhome. We tried everything. Glad you are persuaded to go for mechanical issues. But, don't give up, there are some solid old rigs around.

I got all the bases covered and purchased one with mechanical and water damage  now that I've dealt with them, I'd take mechanical anyday over water leaks.

JHUFF... I was not able to find a leak free Bounder in my price range when I went looking... SO....I did a great inspection knowing that I was in a rough area... and did find a compromise. But after tons of labor and a ROOF Reseal....plus all the clean-up....I ended up Painting the carpeted ceiling. I just could not get the stains out to my satisfaction.
I went with a close matching interior latex after reading some articles on carpet painting. It looks much better. I am happy with my work....my 1995 Bounder will not be an eyesore if I have guests tag along.
