what's under my carpet??

We have a 31 ft. 2004 Winnebago Class C. I hate the carpet under the dinette and extending about 18 in. into the aisle. I would like to remove the carpet but don't know if the vinyl which is on the remainder of the aisle under the carpet.
The paperwork doesn't tell me if I have vinyl under the carpet. Does anyone know or have any experience with this???

If it is original flooring, I don't think Winnebago would have wasted extra cost of putting down vinyl then covering it with carpet. Few carpets I have removed from RVs had very thin (cheap) foam rubber pad under it. If carpet was added by another owner then it may have the vinyl under it.

You would be very surpirsed that many RV manafacturers do it fact cover the entire floor with vinyl and then put carpet down where is needs or they want to put it. it is cheaper to cover the entrie floor vs's cutting and fitting. the problem is if there is vinyl under the carpet it wil be full of holes most likley from the tack strips, staples, etc. I would peel up one of the edges and take a peak. best of luck

On my View, the entire coach was covered with vinyl floor covering, with a protective clear plastic over it, then cabinets, shower, everything, including carpet, was put down over the vinyl. Last thing they do is go around and cut the clear over cover out. Pull a bottom drawer from a cabinet and see what is under it, most likely vinyl, still with the clear over it.

My '04 Winnebago just has plywood under the carpet. My Adventurer does not have sheet vinyl though, it has 12"x12" tiles. That may be why mine is the way it is. What is in yours?

I don't believe they would put vinyl under carpet on a slide , the camper itself yes. They use the carpet to cover the seam where slide floor meets camper.

I replaced my carpet in my 04 Itasca Sundancer which is the same as yours. There is no vinyl under the carpet and beware if taking out carpet that the slideout does not roll on rollers but drags on rubber on bottom of slide which will probably ruin the vinyl because of the weight. Good luck!
