I have been a member for many years, it appears to me the FMCA has gone down hill in the last few years. I get the magazine and use Emerg. Road Service. I did not renew my membership this year, I did not think $35 per year for a magazine that is half the size it once was was a value. I do not like the new format.

I don't expect that you will be the last person to offer this type of commentary either.

Magazine sales are drastically down as a segment in what people buy to begin with. Now when the volumes begin shrinking and the content is reduced folks just don't like that type of "Change."

Now if you are a member of a second organization that is tied to your FMCA membership that will become imperiled. As for us, we need to belong to FMCA to be WCMC Members.

Barbara S., WCMC is the Workhorse Chassis Motorhome Club and its a component of the International Area, if I have that right. When they have the INTO Rally that's an event that is geared toward all the International Area Chapters.

Most all manufacturer chapters and a great number of specialty chapters that are FMCA for example, Workhorse, Bounder, GMC Motorhomes, etc. and others fall under the auspices of the International Area.

FMCA is a great organization that provides a source of camaraderie, info and support. The entire industry is suffering now and that results in a reduced magazine as advertisers pull back.

IMO now is not the time to leave an organization that works in the interest of motorhome owners, especially with the coming battles over energy, campground usage, fuel taxes, etc. We are much stronger when we provide a common united front.

I agree also and will continue to support both FMCA & WCMC until they give me a good reason not to.

I plan to join FMCA before a July vacation that gives me a discount rate for being an FMCA member (and not for Good Sam, Passport, etc.). The savings alone will pay for the membership for a couple of years.

I don't know FMCA well, but will probably follow their forum a bit (it is very primitive forum software compared to vBulletin).

I agree! I have been a member for 10 years and can't see bailing out now. I finally attended my first FMCA rally this year and honestly wasn't impressed compared to others I have been to. But, I will continue to support FMCA because they support us

I agree that the magazine is not worth $35.00 per year. But, I hasten to add that the mag is NOT the reason for being a member. It is only one of many member benefits that make the $35.00 annual cost a BARGIN. The medical evacuation and relocation benefit alone is worth considerabley more than the dues. Even if you never attend an area rally or one of the Conventions, which really are pretty good events IMO, the member benefits and lobbying efforts make FMCA membership a wise investment for any MH owner. I will continue to support FMCA, local chapters, NKK, and other associations until I stop RV'ing. Some of the information is beneficial from a safety, recreation, and buying viewpoint.

After reading your replies I have reconsidered and have renewed my membership. Your are all correct in stating that this is not the time to abandon an organization that has been very good for many years. I use very few of the benefits of belonging to FMCA but I have enjoyed the magazine for many years. I will continue to support the organization and hope the economy improves.
