When is FMCA going to smarten up and provide some real enetertainment. The rallies are big money makers and they provide some clowns, wooden dummies and some old buggers calling themselves an orchestra. At least they are having Ronnie Milsap. Most of the others could not get a job at a Vegas off strip bar. How about some acts similar to what you would see in an Indian Casino. There are thousands of nostalgia bands. Both Rock and Country . Not all FMCA members are refugees from a nursing home wearing old polyester pants and drooling!!

Amen. Now that a lot of the original Rockers are in their sixties why not drop some of the "big band" stuff and book some R&R groups.

MOISHEH : please tell me you are kidding. IMHO, you are way off base with the above quoted comment. At the latest convention, the nighty PROFESSIONAL entertainment, performing at the dirt track, was as follows:

Sunday : Sgt. Dan Clark & Mary Colarusso. Granted, they are not too well known, but were entertaining, and it was the night before the convention really got going.

MONDAY: Big Ray and the Kool Kats. They are a 12 member group doing a variety of musical styles. They have already played Vegas, NY, Cabo, and at the Kennedy Center in DC.

Tuesday: Rickey Nelson's twin sons were trying to do a Rock & Roll tribute to their father when the lightening and monsoon rains ended their show early.

Wednesday: Ronnie Milsap (makes you happy ?)

Thursday: Riders in the Sky. Arguably the best group there. They are a renowned "Cowboy" group with over 20 albums, including two grammies. They are in the Grand Ole Oprey, the western music hall of fame, have a show on National Public Radio, and have done parts of the sound tracks for at least two Disney movies. They perform over 200 shows per year. Their show ranged from old cowboy tunes to a short (thank goodness) hip-hop RAP diddie, and they do a lot of comedy as part of the routine.

It is true that not all of us FMCA members are drooling refugees from a nursing home, as YOU put it. I can only tell you that the majority are active seniors who are in good enough health to travel, drive, and set up LARGE motorhomes in campgrounds. And MOST of them climbed the bleachers at the dirt track each night to enjoy the entertainment there. I thought the variety of entertainment was pretty good, as there was something there for almost every taste.

As for your derogatory comments about the DAYTIME entertainers, I won't even dignify them with a reply. ED

zzzzzzzzzz wake me when some entertainment thats younger than 65 shows up. Thats why FMCA is only having older members at these rallies. Bring in some young entertainment and get young people. Why is membership waining at FMCA, BECAUSE THEIR GOING BACK TO THE NURSING HOME. I for one am letting them have my egg back. The magazine is nice but geared toward older people and retirees and bigger money motorhomes. When FMCA wakes up and realizes the future is younger, maybe, just maybe they will grow again.

Edgray: I will reply. The entertainment is old and stale. Yes Riders in the sky and Ronnie Milsap are 2 good acts. But the orchestras and the magicians or puppet shows are 50 years old. Like I said when you go to an Indian casino the entertainment is much better. I am 63 and grew up with Elvis, Beatles, Stones, Johny Cash, Doors, Dylan, the Boss and more. I was not alone. Where are the millions of fans? I guess they dont go to FMCA conventions. Why not some tribute bands? Some newer Country and Western? Maybe Blues or Jazz. Most of the entertainment is either has beens or never was. FMCA is so darn conservative that they are afraid of offending any one. That is why the groups are so lilly white. Maybe FMCA has a budget of less than $500 per act.
